London: Indian cricket player Shubman Gill will be fined 15% of his match fee following his criticism against the umpire’s decision regarding his dismissal during the fourth day of the WTC final.
The International Cricket Council has charged Gill for violating Article 2.7 of ICC which defines that “public criticism or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an international match”. The cricketer has accepted the sanction by avoiding a formal hearing.
In addition to Gill’s fine, both the teams are facing penalties for their slow run rates during the match. India will lose their entire match fee due to their slow run rate, while Australia will be fined 80% of their match fees for the same reason.
