Dhaka: In a thrilling cricket encounter between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, the first day of the match belonged to the Bangladeshi batsmen as they put up an impressive total of 367 runs with five wickets remaining. Najmul Hossain Shanto emerged as the standout performer, smashing a remarkable 146 runs from 175 balls and becoming the top scorer of the day.

The match commenced with Bangladesh winning the toss and electing to bat. The team’s batsmen displayed great determination and skill, particularly Najmul Hossain Shanto, who played a breathtaking innings that included a flurry of boundaries and elegant stroke play. His partnership with Hasan Joy, which contributed 212 runs before being dismissed, laid a solid foundation for Bangladesh’s formidable score.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who scored 47 and 48 runs respectively, showcased their resilience and supported the team’s cause effectively. With their patient batting, they guided Bangladesh to a commanding position at the end of the day’s play.

The Afghan bowlers fought hard to restrict the flow of runs and managed to claim crucial wickets. Nijat Masood emerged as the most successful bowler for Afghanistan, taking two wickets and bowling two maiden overs during his spell of 14 overs. Yamin Ahmadzai, Zahir Khan, Amir Hamza, and Rahmat Shah also made valuable contributions by taking a wicket each for their team.
