Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has concluded his two-week foreign visit and returned to Kerala. He, along with his team, arrived at Thiruvananthapuram airport at approximately 3:30 AM on Tuesday.
The highlight of the Chief Minister’s trip was his participation in the regional conference of the Loka Kerala Sabha, which took place in New York, USA. However, prior to this event, there were controversies surrounding the CM’s presence at Times Square.
Both the BJP and Congress parties criticized the Kerala government for allegedly soliciting funds in exchange for the opportunity to dine and share the stage with the Chief Minister during the meeting. The Congress party further mocked the Communist government for its budget-oriented sponsorship policy.
Accompanying the Chief Minister were Minister KN Balagopal, Speaker AN Shamseer, Chief Secretary VP Joy, and other officials. In addition to the American visit, CM Vijayan also attended several programs in Havana, Cuba. The Chief Minister’s office has stated that discussions were held with the Cuban government during this time.
