Chennai is gearing up to host the much-anticipated Asian Champions Trophy 2023 as the Asian Hockey Federation announces the tournament’s schedule. The prestigious event will witness fierce competition among six formidable teams—Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Japan, China, and the host nation India—vying for the coveted title. The tournament is set to kick off on August 3 and will culminate on August 12 at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai.

The Asian Champions Trophy is a highly anticipated tournament in the field of hockey, showcasing the exceptional skills and sportsmanship of teams from across the continent. The opening day will witness a thrilling clash between Korea and Japan, followed by the host nation India taking on China in the third match of the day. Hockey enthusiasts and fans eagerly await these exhilarating encounters.

The defending champions of the Asian Champions Trophy are South Korea, who claimed victory in the 2012 edition of the tournament. With their exceptional talent and proven track record, they are expected to provide stiff competition to their opponents in their quest to retain the title.

Notably, both the Indian Men’s Hockey Team and Pakistan have tasted success in the Asian Champions Trophy, each clinching the title on three occasions. India emerged victorious in 2011, 2016, and 2018, while Pakistan secured the championship in 2012, 2013, and 2018. These two hockey powerhouses have a history of delivering thrilling performances in the tournament, and their clashes on the field are highly anticipated by fans.
