Taipei – Indian badminton stars HS Prannoy and Parupalli Kashyap displayed their exceptional skills and emerged victorious in the first round of the men’s singles event at the Taipei Open 2023. The tournament, part of the BWF World Tour, witnessed Prannoy defeating Lin Yu Hsien of Chinese Taipei, while Kashyap secured a convincing win over Germany’s Samuel Hsiao at the Tian-Mu Arena on Wednesday.

Ranked ninth in the world, HS Prannoy demonstrated his dominance on the court as he overpowered his opponent, Lin Yu Hsien, who is currently ranked 183rd globally. Prannoy’s exceptional performance resulted in a comfortable 21-11, 21-10 victory in the BWF Super 300 tournament’s first round. The Indian shuttler showcased his remarkable agility and precision, leaving little room for his opponent to mount a comeback.
Meanwhile, Parupalli Kashyap, the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion, delivered an impressive performance against the German qualifier, Samuel Hsiao. Kashyap, aiming to make his mark this year on the BWF World Tour, demonstrated his experience and skills to secure a decisive 21-15, 21-16 win in the main draw of the tournament. This victory marked Kashyap’s first win of the year in a BWF World Tour event, setting a positive tone for his future matches.
