In a thrilling turn of events on day two of the test match between England Women and Australia Women, England showcased their resilience and determination as they fought back to keep their hopes alive. After Australia set a daunting target of 473 runs, England, with 218 runs on the board for the loss of two wickets, is trailing by 255 runs.

The highlight of the day undoubtedly belonged to Tammy Beaumont, who held the England Women’s innings together with a brilliant century. Beaumont displayed impeccable skill and unwavering focus as she remained unbeaten on 100 runs off 154 balls. Her innings was a testament to her class and determination, as she single-handedly frustrated the Australian bowlers.

On the ‘day one’ of the test, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. They piled on the runs with some exceptional performances from their batting lineup. Youngster Annabel Sutherland showcased her talent with a massive knock of 137 runs, providing a solid foundation for the team. Ellyse Perry fell just one run short of a century, contributing significantly to Australia’s formidable total. Tahila McGrath also made a valuable contribution, scoring 61 runs before being dismissed by the impressive Sophie Ecclestone, who took a five-wicket haul for England.

With a mammoth target to chase, England faced an uphill battle from the start. However, the determined partnership between Beaumont and Heather Knight provided a glimmer of hope for the home side. Knight played a valuable innings, contributing 57 runs before being dismissed by Ashleigh Gardner, who claimed a wicket for Australia. Nat Sciver-Burnt supported Beaumont brilliantly from the non-striker’s end, scoring 41 runs from just 44 balls and helping to build a crucial partnership.

Australia’s bowlers, led by Annabel Sutherland and Ashleigh Gardner, were relentless in their pursuit to break the partnership. However, Beaumont’s resolute defense and calculated stroke play frustrated their efforts. The English batters will be looking to build on their strong partnership on the final day of the test match to give themselves a chance of a remarkable comeback.
