New Delhi: Hockey India has revealed a 39-member senior men’s core group that will participate in the national camp set to take place from June 26 to July 19 at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Center in Bengaluru. The camp aims to fine-tune the skills and strategies of the players as they prepare for upcoming international tournaments.
Following the conclusion of the camp, the Indian team will embark on a journey to Terrassa, Spain, where they will compete against strong opponents including England, the Netherlands, and the home side in the prestigious 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation International Tournament. The tournament, scheduled from July 25 to 30, promises high-intensity matches that will test the mettle of the participating teams.
After their stint in Spain, the Indian team will return to home soil to participate in the Asian Champions Trophy held in Chennai on August 3. The tournament will witness fierce competition as India goes head-to-head against formidable teams such as Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Japan, and China in their quest for the title.
The selected core group comprises a talented mix of players, with Krishan Bahadur Pathak, PR Sreejesh, Suraj Karkera, Pawan Malik, and Prashant Kumar Chauhan selected as goalkeepers. The defensive line-up includes Harmanpreet Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh, Surender Kumar, Varun Kumar, Amit Rohidas, Gurinder Singh, Jugraj Singh, Mandeep Mor, Nilam Sanjeep Xess, Sanjay, Yashdeep Siwach, Dipsan Tirkey, and Manjeet.
In the midfield, experienced players Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, Shamsher Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, Rajkumar Pal, Sumit, Akashdeep Singh, Gurjant Singh, Mohd. Raheel Mouseen, and Maninder Singh have been called up for the camp.
The forward line will see the inclusion of S Karthi, Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar, Upadhyay, Abhishekh, Dilpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Simranjeet Singh, Shilanand Lakra, and Pawan Rajbhar, who will be responsible for leading the attack and scoring crucial goals for the team.
The national camp provides an excellent platform for these talented players to further enhance their skills, work on team dynamics, and build camaraderie. The coaching staff will focus on improving various aspects of the game, including fitness, strategy, and technical proficiency.
