World Cup 2023 schedule announced: England to face New Zealand in opener, India set to battle Australia

Mumbai: The much-anticipated World Cup 2023 is all set to commence on October with a thrilling rematch of the 2019 finals, as England takes on New Zealand at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmadabad. The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the complete schedule, with host nation India starting their campaign against five-time World Cup winner Australia in Chennai on October 5.

A total of 10 teams will participate in this prestigious tournament, with the first eight already securing their spots through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The final two spots will be determined at the conclusion of the Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe on July 9. Following the qualification, each team will compete against the other nine teams in a round-robin format. The top four teams will then advance to the knockout stage, including the semi-finals.

India’s highly-anticipated clash against arch-rivals Pakistan has been scheduled for Sunday, October 15th in Ahmedabad, creating an atmosphere of excitement and intense rivalry. The match promises to be a highlight of the tournament, drawing immense attention from cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

The group stage will conclude with a thrilling encounter between England and Pakistan in Kolkata on November 12, further adding to the tournament’s excitement and drama. The top four teams from the group stage will progress to the knockout phase, where the first semi-final will take place in Mumbai on Wednesday, November 15. The second semi-final will be held the following day in Kolkata. Both semi-final matches will have a reserve day to account for any unforeseen circumstances.

The pinnacle of the World Cup 2023 will be the grand final, scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmadabad on November 19, with November 20 designated as the reserve day. The grand finale will witness the two best teams battle it out for cricket’s most coveted trophy, marking the culmination of a month-long spectacle.

Cricket fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the World Cup 2023, as it promises to showcase thrilling matches, fierce rivalries, and exceptional talent from across the globe. The tournament’s schedule ensures that spectators will witness high-stakes encounters and unforgettable moments throughout the competition.
