Bengaluru : Indian opener KL Rahul, who is currently recovering from an injury sustained during the Indian Premier League (IPL), recently shared a glimpse of his intense workout session on Instagram. The picture showcased Rahul inside a gym, displaying his dedication as he prepares for his return to international cricket.
Rahul, a key player in the Indian cricket team, is not currently part of the squad due to his ongoing recovery process. However, his commitment to maintaining his fitness levels is a testament to his determination and desire to make a strong comeback.
The 30-year-old batsman played a vital role for India during the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 cycles. In 11 matches, Rahul amassed 636 runs at an average of 30.28, including two centuries and two fifties in 21 innings. His highest score of 129 highlighted his ability to dominate the opposition’s bowling attack.
Unfortunately, Rahul’s injury occurred during a match between his IPL team, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 1. While fielding in the second over, he chased a ball in the outfield and clutched his thigh in discomfort before limping off the field.
In light of Rahul’s unavailability for the upcoming fixtures, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Ishan Kishan as his replacement in the World Test Championship. Kishan, a talented wicket-keeper-batsman, will be eager to seize this opportunity and contribute to India’s campaign.
