New Delhi: Indian wrestlers and Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) athletes Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia are all set to embark on international training camps in Kyrgyzstan and Hungary. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) TOPS team swiftly approved their proposal, granting clearance within 24 hours of their request, according to an official release.

Bajrang Punia, an Olympic medalist, will be heading to Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan, for a 36-day training camp. Meanwhile, Vinesh Phogat, a World Championships medalist, will start her training in Bishekh, Kyrgyzstan, for a week before moving on to Tata, Hungary, for an 18-day training camp.

During her training, Vinesh will be accompanied by physiotherapist Ashwini Jeevan Patil, sparring partner Sangeeta Phogat, and Coach Sudesh. On the other hand, Bajrang will be accompanied by Coach Sujeet Maan, Physiotherapist Anuj Gupta, sparring partner Jitender, and Strength and Conditioning Expert Kaazi Hasan.

The government will cover the expenses for Vinesh, Bajrang, their sparring partners Sangeeta Phogat and Jitender, as well as coaches Sudesh and Sujeet Maan, which include air tickets, board and lodging costs, camp expenses, airport transfers, OPA, and other miscellaneous expenses. Additionally, Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) will bear the costs of the other support staff accompanying the wrestlers.

Both Vinesh and Bajrang are scheduled to depart in the first week of July, eager to make the most of their international training camps and further hone their skills in preparation for future competitions.
