Santa Pona, Spain: Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri achieved a significant milestone in his career by clinching his first ATP Tour title at the Mallorca Champions 2023 in Spain. Bhambri, along with his partner Lloyd Harris, emerged victorious in the men’s doubles final, showcasing their impeccable performance throughout the tournament.
Bhambri and Harris showcased a flawless partnership, remaining unbeaten in their journey to the Mallorca Championship doubles title. In the ATP 250 final, they faced the Indian-South African duo of Robin Haase and Philipp Oswald, securing a commanding 6-3 victory without dropping a single set.
This triumph marks the first ATP Tour victory for both Bhambri and Harris, who had previously reached tour-level finals in singles and doubles, respectively. The Indian tennis player expressed his joy and enthusiasm, emphasising the enjoyable experience they had during the tournament.
“We went in with no expectations this week. We just enjoyed playing, took it match by match, and had a great tournament. It’s a great city, a great place, and I really enjoyed playing here,” said the 30-year-old Bhambri, as quoted by ATP.com.
Harris, delighted with their achievement, highlighted the fun they had on the court and expressed his gratitude for the unexpected opportunity. “I didn’t even know I was going to play this week. For me, it’s just all a bonus. Super stoked with the title,” added Harris. He also became the first South African to win an ATP Tour title since Raven Klaasen’s victory in Seoul last year.
