Antigua, West Indies: The Cricket West Indies Senior Men’s Selection Panel has unveiled the squad for the upcoming home Test Series against India. Thirteen players have been named, along with two travelling reserve players, for the match set to take place at Windsor Park in Dominica from July 12 to 16.
The West Indies squad will depart for Dominica on Sunday after undergoing an intensive pre-series training camp at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua. They will have training sessions on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning to fine-tune their preparations for the much-anticipated encounter.
This Test Series holds particular significance as it marks the first fixtures for both the West Indies and India in the new 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship. The inaugural match is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 10 a.m. local time (9 a.m. Jamaica/7:30 p.m. India). The second Test, to be held from July 20 to 24 at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, will be a historic occasion as it represents the 100th Test match between the West Indies and India.
Leading the West Indies team will be Kraigg Brathwaite, who will take on the role of captain. Jermaine Blackwood has been named the vice captain, adding valuable experience and leadership to the side. The squad features a mix of promising young talent and seasoned campaigners, aiming to put on a strong performance against the formidable Indian team.
The full squad includes Kraigg Brathwaite (Captain), Jermaine Blackwood (Vice Captain), Alick Athanaze, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Rahkeem Cornwall, Joshua Da Silva, Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kirk McKenzie, Raymon Reifer, Kemar Roach, and Jomel Warrican. The team will be supported by the travelling reserves, Tevin Imlach and Akeem Jordan.
