Noida: In a significant move towards making Uttar Pradesh a trillion dollar economy, the Yogi government is set to organise the ‘Moto GP India 2023‘ bike race for the first time from September 22 to 24, 2023. The event will take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, with the aim of establishing a strong global image for the state.
The highly anticipated Moto GP India race will witness the participation of 116 bikers from 45 teams, racing with superbikes at speeds reaching 360 km/h on the renowned racing track. This event is expected to generate revenue of Rs 954 crore and provide direct and indirect employment opportunities for 4,932 individuals.
Through the bike race, bikers from various countries will have the opportunity to experience the world-class sports infrastructure developed by the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh. The Moto GP India event will set a new world record, and with live streaming available in 195 countries, It is expected to attract an estimated audience of approximately 450 million people worldwide. The event will showcase the transformation of Uttar Pradesh over the past six years, allowing the world to witness the state’s progress. Additionally, the unique features and specialties of Uttar Pradesh will be highlighted during the event.
Buddh International Circuit, the venue for the race, will accommodate around one lakh spectators who will have the opportunity to enjoy the exhilarating Moto GP India bike race. It is worth noting that Moto GP is the fifth- most popular sport in the world.
The branding of Uttar Pradesh will be prominently displayed along the track during the Moto GP India race. Dignitaries and media personnel from India and around the world will be in attendance, where they will be presented with products from the “One District, One Product” (ODOP) initiative. ODOP stalls will also be set up at the venue. This three-day event is expected to have a significant positive impact on the local economy.
The projected turnover of Rs 954 crore will encompass various sectors, including food and beverage (13.5%), sale of products (10.4%), the hotel industry (10.4%), ticket sales (13.4%), transportation (5.1%), culture (5.9%), travel (34.9%), and others (6.4%). It is estimated that 77.5% of attendees will be from different states within the country, while 22.5% will be international visitors, all contributing significantly to the economy of Uttar Pradesh.
The Yogi government has allocated Rs 51 crore for the Moto GP bike race in September. This includes Rs 18 crore for racing track repairs, Rs 15 crore for sponsorships, and Rs 18 crore for various other expenses. The event is expected to have a positive impact on real estate, hotels, tourism, the local industry, the media, and the environment for the next seven years.
Taking inspiration from Qatar’s successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup, which had a profound impact on their economy, the Yogi government has initiated an action plan for extensive promotion of the bike race event overseas through a short video focused on Uttar Pradesh. Exhibitions will also be held in different states across the country, as well as in cities such as Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Cochin, Visakhapatnam, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Ahmadabad, and Jaipur, to promote the event. In Noida and Delhi, e-buses displaying the logos of the Uttar Pradesh government and Moto GP will be utilised for promotional purposes.
More than 40% of tickets for the Moto Bharat GP race have already been sold, with prices ranging from Rs 800 to Rs 40,000. Additionally, tickets priced between Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh will be available for purchase online.
