PALAKKAD: A woman was arrested for cheating a sum of Rs 11 lakh by making fake promises of offering a job in Canada. Nikhitha, a native of Palakkad, was arrested in connection with the case.
It is alleged that the woman swindled Rs 11 lakh from Shani, a resident of Purakkad. The incident occurred last June. Nikita, who had become friendly with Shani, made her believe that she was a doctor at the medical college.
Nikhitha offered the victim a high-paying salary, collected Rs 11 lakh on several occasions under the pretense of covering expenditures for the formal processes, and then went into hiding.
Following Shani’s complaint, Nikhitha was arrested by the team led by Ambalappuzha station officer Dijesh. The police also discovered that the accused had committed similar types of cheating cases in Palakkad as well.
