Palakkad: Retaliatory action was taken against Sub-Inspector B. Pramod of Cherpulassery Station, who lathi-charged SFI activists in an incident that took place in Palakkad Cherpulassery. Pramod was transferred to the Palakkad narcotics cell following an order issued by the district police chief.

The SFI workers had alleged that during the clash between the SFI and the bus staff at the Cherpullassery bus stand, the SI had hurled a lathi at them. On Monday, there was a clash between bus employees and SFI in Cherpulassery, followed by a change of location. There was a conflict at the bus stand due to the boarding of students on the bus.

The next day, a flash strike of private buses was also called to demand action against those who assaulted the staff. A team led by the SI reached the spot and asked the employees to call off the strike, but to no avail. Then a discussion was held with the bus drivers at the station. The SFI leaders demanded that action be taken against the fact that the students were beaten up at the AI stand, even though the strike was called off after the police promised to intervene if there was any problem at the stand.
