Chennai:  Actor Kamal Haasan hailed the women’s reservation bill as a milestone in the history of our republic. He said that the day our democracy shifted to the new Parliament House was an important day in the history of the republic. The actor was posting his view  through social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

“I wholeheartedly applaud the women’s reservation bill , the first bill introduced in this new parliament. Nations that ensure gender equality will always prosper. This should be extended to Rajya Sabha and State Legislative Councils. Looking forward to the day when women get equal representation in legislative bodies,” Kamal Haasan tweeted.

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced the women’s reservation bill in the first session of the Lok Sabha in the new parliament building. In the conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the historic day of September 19, 2023 will be immortal in the history of India. He added that increasing participation of women in all sectors will involve more women in policy making. With the passage of women’s reservation, the number of women in the Lok Sabha will increase to 181.
