Srinagar: LeT commander Uzair Khan among the two terrorists killed in the 7-day long Anantnag encounter, ADGP , Kashmir ,Vijay Kumar informed. Meanwhile four security personnel, including two army officers and a police officer, lost their lives in the gunfight, Mr Kumar added.
“Till now, LeT commander Uzair Khan’s body has been recovered. The dead body of another terrorist is visible, but it has not been possible to retrieve it yet,” the ADGP told reporters in Anantnag. AK rifles, pistols and other weapons were recovered from their hideouts the officer added.
The gunfight, which began in the Gadole forest area of the south Kashmir district on Wednesday last week, claimed four lives including a soldier. The Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police said that they salute the sacrifice of Colonel Manpreet Singh, DYSP Humayun Bhatt, Major Ashish Dhonchak and Jawan Pardeep Singh who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The country also lost a dog named Kent, who was part of the Indian Army. Kent was shot while rescuing an army officer.
