India wins bronze at World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. Antim Panghal won bronze in the women’s 53 kg category by defeating two-time European champion Emma Joanna Denis Malgren by 16-6. With this, the star qualified for the Paris Olympics.
This is India’s first medal in this tournament. With this, India’s medal tally in the World Championships rose to 23, including one gold, five silver and 17 bronze. It is the Indian Olympic Association to decide whether Vinesh Phogat or Antim Panghal will represent India in Paris Olympics 2024. Panghal was the Under-20 World Champion in 2022 and 2023. She also won silver in the 2023 Asian Championships.
