New Delhi: England’s all-rounder Chris Woakes hails India’s Jasprit Bumrah as the best all-format fast bowler in the world. In an interview with Wisden Cricket Monthly ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, Woakes said that Bumrah is unique and that he has all the attributes needed to be the best white-ball bowler in the world.
“Jasprit Bumrah is the number one I think, probably across all formats. He is pretty sensational with what he does and he is unique, right? His action is different to anyone else and he has got a high pace, a gun slower ball, and a yorker on top. Everything you need as a white ball bowler,” Woakes said.
Jasprit Bumrah returned to international cricket after an 11-month hiatus due to a back injury. The 29-year-old fast bowler was out of action since September 2022, missing numerous important tournaments and series during this period. Bumrah’s contributions were instrumental in India’s victory in Asia Cup 2023.
