Lucknow: Javed, along with his accomplices, who are the primary suspects in the case involving the attack on Bihar’s historic Begusarai Bholenath Shiva temple and the subsequent destruction of the Shiva lingam, have been apprehended. This incident occurred at Lakhon Khatopur Chowk in Begusarai. According to SP Yogendra Kumar, a total of 13 individuals, including Javed, were apprehended in Jaunpur village.

On September 22, Javed and his accomplices attacked the temple, resulting in the destruction of the Shiva lingam. Later in the evening, the suspects were found consuming alcohol in close proximity to the temple. Consequently, the assailants proceeded to vandalise the shrine. Local residents have reported that certain extremists in the vicinity of the temple not only use the temple premises for drinking but also discard litter within the sacred precincts of the temple.

The destruction of the temple ignited a profound fury among the villagers, and as news of the incident spread, a significant crowd gathered at the location in reaction. Javed, the primary suspect, operates a butcher shop within the village. In the meantime, a group of villagers arrived with bulldozers and demolished the accused’s meat shop to the ground. The enraged mob proceeded to block the national highway for several hours.
