Srinagar: Munshi Ram, an 84-year-old resident of Udhampur, Kashmir, has demonstrated remarkable innovation by converting a traditional bicycle into an electric one, powered entirely by solar energy.
Munshi Ram attributes his motivation to create the solar-powered e-cycle to the inspiration provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Green India’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ initiatives. Notably, the e-cycle has been skillfully assembled using repurposed laptop batteries and electronic waste materials. To maintain a charged bicycle, Munshi Ram has installed a solar panel on the rooftop of his home.
In the present day, Munshi Ram consistently favors his e-cycle over public transportation, setting an example for eco-conscious commuting. Regrettably, a significant number of individuals still dispose of batteries and electronic waste thoughtlessly, resulting in detrimental effects on our soil and the broader environment. Munshi Ram underscores the urgent need for collective action towards a healthier environment by safeguarding our soil from various pollutants, including electronic waste.
