Wayanad : Two individuals were arrested on Monday on the charges of poaching a deer using a trap and consuming its meat. Wayanad Kurukkanmula Kalapurakkal Thomas alias Baby and Modommattam Thangachan were the arrested. The trap was discovered in an orchard owned by Thomas within the Thrissilery section.
Poaching remains a significant issue in the forests of Kerala, with wild boars and deer frequently targeted under the pretext of crop damage.
