Hangzhou: Olympian and Indian team manager Anju Bobby George has raised concerns about a covert attempt to undermine India’s performance at the Asian Games. India is pursuing its largest medal haul in the history of the Asian Games.
Anju Bobby George expressed frustration, stating, ‘Neeraj’s first throw was a very good one, but they weren’t ready to measure it. The same thing happened with Annu Rani, who won gold for India in the women’s javelin throw event. I don’t understand why they are treating Indian athletes this way. It seems like an attempt to cheat us and disrupt our athletes.’
Various irregularities have been reported, including issues with measuring distances in events like the men’s long jump and fake foul calls during performances. There have also been allegations of trying to disturb Indian athletes’ concentration during crucial moments.
Anju Bobby George, who is also the senior vice-president of the Athletic Federation, has stated that this behavior is a blatant violation of the Olympic Chapter. India intends to question these actions and will lodge a formal complaint with the International Olympic Committee against the officials.
