Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced financial assistance for the families of those who lost their lives in the fire that engulfed a five-story building in Goregaon, Mumbai. An ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each was declared for the next of kin of the deceased, along with Rs. 50,000 for the injured. The Prime Minister conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims.

The fire broke out in the Jai Bhawani building in Goregaon, Mumbai, at approximately 3 am today(OCT 6). Tragically, seven people lost their lives, and around 50 others sustained severe injuries in the incident. Many of the burn victims are in critical condition, with 39 individuals currently receiving treatment at HBT and Cooper Hospital. The initial assessment suggests that a short circuit may have been the cause of the fire.
