Government allocates bicycles instead of cars for Village Field Assistant’s official travel

Malappuram:  The government has decided to provide bicycles to village office officials for their official travel. It was decided after rejecting the request of the village office officials to provide a car. Officials who require these bicycles have been instructed to inform the relevant authorities by Friday.

Village field assistants had persistently sought car allocations for their field inspections. The State Finance Commission had also recommended that officers be provided with vehicles for field inspections. In line with these considerations, bicycles have been allocated to the officials.
The Finance Department’s initial promise of a car later transformed into considerations of scooters and then electric vehicles. Ultimately, the Finance Department has settled on providing bicycles for their official purposes.

These officials are responsible for verifying certificates issued through the e-District system while conducting field inspections. Having access to suitable transportation is vital for fulfilling their responsibilities, which include tasks such as land encroachment inspections and the collection of one-time taxes for buildings.
