Kozhikode: A residence in Chekkiad, Kozhikode, caught fire after a powerful lightning strike. The affected house belongs to Mary, who fortunately survived the incident along with her family. The intense lightning strike severely damaged the electrical wiring inside the house, leading to the explosion of electronic devices. The walls of the house were also damaged during the incident, and the fire extended to the tarpaulin roof installed over the property.
The preceding night witnessed torrential rainfall and intense thunderstorms in the Kandivathukkal hills. During this storm, both Mary and her son were struck by lightning, along with several other residents in the area. The electric discharge also caused fires, burning trees in the area.
Local residents told that the heavy rainfall may have prevented from the fire damaging other neighboring homes.
