Idukki: The body of Nibin (20), a resident of Kallambam in Thiruvananthapuram, has been discovered after he went missing when swept away by the currents of the Elappara Kochukarintharuvi river. The incident took place late in the evening yesterday.
The incident unfolded as Nibin and his group were returning from a visit to Gavi after an excursion. They reached Kochukarintharuvi and decided to stay there. After arranging accommodation at a local resort, the group decided to take a bath in the river. At that time, Nibin’s brother Nithin was caught in the current. Nibin, who tried to save his brother, was also caught by the current. A neighbour named Tommy rushed to the scene, hearing the cries for help. Tommy managed to save both Nibin and Nitin. Nibin was carefully placed on a rock, but he slipped back into the river, disappearing beneath the surface. The body was found today during the search conducted by the Rapid Response Team from Erattupetta.
