Thiruvananthapuram: Former MP and actor Suresh Gopi supported Shashi Tharoor’s remark that Hamas is a terrorist organization. He was talking to the media in Kozhikode. What Tharoor said is true, adding that a person like Shashi Tharoor will not speak without proper understanding. At the same time, Suresh Gopi also criticized Tharoor, stating that the statement was a part of his vote bank politics.
Shashi Tharoor has the right to express his opinion. He believes that Hamas is the enemy of Islam. Hamas cannot be seen as Israel’s only enemy. All individuals have the right to express their opinions. Suresh Gopi said that he did not see anything wrong with Tharoor’s response.
Suresh Gopi also questioned whether the Muslim League organized the program to express solidarity with Hamas. Supporting Hamas is akin to supporting its terrorists for the liberation of Kashmir. He also urged people to contemplate whether this is true.
Shashi Tharoor’s remarks were made at the Palestine Solidarity Conference held by the Kozhikode Muslim League. Tharoor expressed solidarity with Palestine but referred to Hamas as a terrorist organization. This stance led to dissatisfaction among Muslim organizations. Muslim League leaders who spoke at the event after Tharoor’s speech vehemently stated that the ‘resistance’ of Palestinians should not be labeled as a ‘terrorist act.’ As the protest gained momentum, Tharoor provided a justification, but organizations, including Samastha, remained steadfast in their position.
