Thiruvananthapuram: An attack on a Tamil Nadu Transport Bus took place in Neyyatinkara. According to reports, two individuals on a motorcycle, armed with machetes, shattered the windows of the bus, near Neyyatinkara Girls Higher Secondary School last evening.
The assailants targeted a fast passenger bus traveling from Thiruvananthapuram to Nagercoil. The suspects were arrested a few hours after the incident. Neyyatinkara Sub-Inspector Sajeev apprehended Akhil, a resident of Perumpazhuthoor, Muttakadu, and Ananthu, a resident of Melariyode, in connection with the incident.
The individuals who initially escaped were later captured by the police with the assistance of nearby CCTV cameras. The police have filed a case regarding the incident. It was reported that the suspects were intoxicated at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no one was injured. The bus driver explained that when the two individuals approached the bus with machetes and launched their attack, he was unsure how to respond.
The attack occurred during the return procession of Navaratri idols, leading to a traffic jam on the hospital-Alummood road. The police promptly arrived to manage traffic, and the bus was brought to the Neyyatinkara depot.
