Thrissur: Thrissur Devaswoms have called for a review of the High Court’s interim order, which bans late-night firecrackers at places of worship in the state. The Vadakkumnatha Advisory Committee has stated that if the verdict impacts Thrissur Pooram, both groups will take necessary legal action.
The committee has also expressed concern about the annual disruptions caused by fireworks. Recently, the High Court issued an interim order prohibiting late-night firecrackers at places of worship. This interim order resulted from a petition filed to ban fireworks at the Maradu temple.
The court pointed out that fireworks lead to noise and environmental pollution, causing health problems. Additionally, the court directed the Collectors of the respective districts to ensure that firecrackers are not ignited at places of worship. It also warned that taking action for contempt of court would be considered if firecrackers are used even after the interim order.
