Ernakulam: The Thrikkakara Municipal Corporation in Ernakulam is considering a potential ban on night trade. The decision is particularly in response to the escalating concerns about drug-related activities occurring at nighttime shops. The final decision regarding this matter is scheduled for consideration by the municipal council tomorrow.
As a preliminary measure, the proposed plan entails closing the shops for a trial period of six months. The municipality is currently planning to enforce the closure of these shops from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thrikkakara has notably been a hub for night trade activities, primarily centred around food stalls. Further updates and the outcome of the municipal council’s decision are anticipated following their meeting.
