Idukki: One person died due to heavy rain. The deceased, identified as Roy and a native of Cheriyar, died when a portion of his house collapsed on him amid the heavy rain. The incident happened at approximately 8 p.m. last night. It was revealed that Roy was residing alone in the house at the time of the incident.
In the wake of the heavy rains, several areas in Santhanpara and Idukki were affected by landslides. In response to this natural disaster, six families residing in close proximity to the Pethotty stream were relocated to the panchayat community hall and the homes of their relatives.
Commuters faced additional challenges as a tree obstructed their path in Udumbanchola. The fire force and revenue officials arrived at the scene and successfully removed the obstruction by cutting the fallen tree, restoring the passage for travellers.
