Thrissur: In an innovative move, students have developed a new shock-generating footwear to enhance women’s safety in public spaces. The students of RMVHSS, Perinjanam, Thrissur, have created footwear that delivers an electric shock when activated. A shock wire is integrated into the sole of the shoe to precisely deliver a shock upon impact. To use it, simply turn on the switch and defend against harassers by kicking them with your shoes. This will give attackers a shock. The students have designed these shoes in the form of high heels with an elongated and thick ankle design.

There’s no threat to the attacker’s life, as the design prevents excessive current flow. The switch, battery, and wire are concealed within the footwear. The battery needs to be periodically charged. These innovative shock-generating footwear costs only around Rs. 500. The invention is attributed to Plus One students Suryadev and Sinan T. Siddique of Perinjanam RMVHSS.
