New Delhi: Bharat continues to support earthquake-affected areas in Nepal. An Air Force plane carrying the third phase of aid landed in Nepal, delivering 12 tonnes of essential relief materials, including medicines, blankets, sleeping bags, tents, and vital medical supplies. This follows the dispatch of 33 tonnes of medicines and other relief materials in the first two phases.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed Bharat’s unwavering commitment to Nepal during this challenging time. Through social media X, he stated, “India’s support for Nepal remains strong and steadfast in this difficult hour. Flight #3 of IAF_MCC, carrying another 12 tonnes of relief material, lands in Nepal. India will always remain a trusted and reliable partner.”
The earthquake, of magnitude 6.4, resulted in the loss of 157 lives and left many others injured. Bharat’s rapid response in delivering emergency aid underscores the strong bond between the two nations. Bharat had previously provided emergency aid to Nepal through Operation Maitri in 2015, following an earthquake. During that time, Bharat also contributed one billion US dollars for post-earthquake reconstruction efforts.
