Kolkata: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Bengal has launched a recruitment drive seeking volunteers to work for the party without remuneration. Advertisements have been posted on various platforms, including social media, with a corporate-style approach. They have posted advertisements in the LinkedIn app resembling job advertisements by companies searching for candidates.
The party is specifically seeking individuals with skills in digital campaigning, financial supervision, office management, and data collection. Applicants are expected to have an interest in left-wing politics and a dedicated, service-oriented attitude. The advertisement emphasises that this is not to be treated as a job.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other political parties responded to the CPI (M)’s recruitment drive with mockery. BJP leaders asserted that their party’s workers perform all necessary tasks without the need for external hires.
