UP Muslim cleric calls for ban on women’s beauty parlour visits

NEW DELHI: A Muslim cleric in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district has urged Muslim women to refrain from visiting beauty parlors. He has labeled such visits as ‘forbidden’ and ‘unlawful’ for women seeking makeup services at the beauty parlours.

Mufti Asad Kasmi, the Muslim cleric, emphasized that it would be more acceptable for women to visit parlours where only female employees work, rather than those with male staff.

This demand comes in light of recent events, notably a woman from Kanpur who lodged a police complaint stating that her husband pronounced triple talaq over the phone from Saudi Arabia because she had shaped her eyebrows.
