Pathanamthitta: Ahead of the Sabarimala pilgrimage, the health department has issued an advisory directed towards pilgrims, especially those with heart conditions. Recommendations include undergoing necessary medical tests before starting the hill climb. This advisory follows the demise of a pilgrim due to a heart attack while performing the ritual of breaking coconuts near Sannidhanam.
The advisory emphasises the need for pilgrims to take regular rest intervals while ascending the mountain. In preparation for the Mandalakala Pilgrimage, hospitals at Sannidhanam have been equipped with modern facilities, including an operational theatre for emergency surgeries, ICU units, ventilators, ECG systems, and essential antidotes for snake venom.
