Chennai: One person died and three others were injured after a boiler exploded at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) in Tondiarpet, Chennai. All employees, totaling more than 500, were evacuated from the premises. The deceased employee was named Perumal, while Saravanan and Panneer, seriously injured, were admitted to Stanley Hospital in Chennai.
As the fire spread, employees rushed out, and firefighters promptly arrived at the spot to extinguish the fire. The explosion occurred at an oil company on the northern outskirts of Ennore, where an oil spill happened recently. According to the police, the explosion resulted from an oil leak, prompting the evacuation of all workers from the plant.
Expressing concern over the incident, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi wished the victims a speedy recovery.
