New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor scam case, the Aam Aadmi Party sources said on Wednesday. The ED had sent a notice to Kejriwal on December 23, asking him to appear for questioning before January 3. Kejriwal’s non-appearance for questioning was alleged to be a political move ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
As per the party sources, Kejriwal in his reply to ED has expressed his readiness to cooperate with the investigation but declined to appear today calling the notice “illegal”.
Kejriwal was not present for questioning on November 2 and December 21 of last year. He was not accused in the first FIR registered by the CBI on August 17, 2023, in the liquor case. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in February for alleged irregularities in formulating and implementing the new excise policy in the state.
