Pathanamthitta: Three persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of George Unnoonny, a merchant in Mylapra. The investigative team arrested Murugan, Balasubramanian, and Harib in connection with the case and subsequently brought them to Pathanamthitta.

Murugan and Balasubramanian were nabbed from Tenkasi, Tamilnadu. The third suspect, Harib is an autorickshaw driver from Pathanamthitta.

George was fatally strangled during a robbery attempt on December 30. Customers who arrived at the shop to make purchases discovered the deceased body with hands and feet tied, and a cloth stuffed in the mouth. Reportedly missing from the scene were nine-sovereigns of gold chain belonging to George and the cash kept in the shop. Following the crime, the perpetrators vandalized the shop’s CCTV camera, and the hard disk containing footage was also taken. The police recovered a lungi and shirt, believed to have been used in the strangulation.
