Mumbai: In a claim that could spell doom for Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra, senior BJP leader and Minister for Water Resources, Girish Mahajan, said that more than 50 MLAs from both Congress and NCP want to join the party before the assembly election scheduled to take place later in the year.
The Minister told ANI said, “Many people are excited to join BJP. There are more than 50 MLAs of Congress and Nationalist Congress Party who want to join BJP. But we also, have some limitations. We cannot admit everyone. ”
Girish Mahajan revealed this after a resignation coup swept the NCP and Congress camps. 2 MLAs belonging to NCP and one MLA from Congress handed their resignations to the Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. All the three MLAs will be joining the BJP on Wednesday.
He said that those who began their political career from Congress and NCP do not want to remain in these parties. He said that these leaders were fed up of the leadership of Congress and NCP. The NCP leaders were annoyed with family politics.
