The Indian government has introduced a convenient system called ‘Aadhaar on Arrival’ for expatriates residing abroad to obtain their Aadhaar card. This process allows individuals to apply for Aadhaar either online or offline, but due to the biometric nature of Aadhaar, applicants must appear in person to complete the process.
Prior to their arrival in Bharat, expatriates are advised to schedule appointments either online or offline. Various application forms cater to different age groups and residency statuses. Form 1 is designated for individuals above 18 years of age, while Form 2 is for non-residents seeking enrollment or updating their address outside Bharat. Children aged between 5 and below 18 years, as well as residents or NRIs with proof of Indian address, are required to fill out Form 3. Those lacking proof of Indian address can utilize Form 4. The issuance of Aadhaar typically takes up to 90 days.
Additionally, documents such as the Indian passport, PAN card, and utility bills can serve as address proofs, while photocopies of stamped visas or other residency status documents abroad may also be requested during the application process.
