New Delhi: With mounting tensions in Kashmir after the Central government revoked Article 370, the National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, is scheduled to visit the state today.
He visited the state during the last week of July and was apprised of the security situation. Soon after thousands of Indian security force personnel was brought into the state.
The Indian Army and Indian Air Force are on high alert after the historic decision of Indian government to stop the special status given to Kashmir. The security forces are have been on tenterhooks after intelligence inputs warned of massive terrorist attacks in the State. The security threat has increased manifold after today’s announcement.
The opposition in Parliament has been divided with many parties like BSP, AAP, Biju Janata Dal, etc supporting the government’s decision. However, Congress, National Conference, Left parties, are opposing the move and do not want Kashmir to be integrated fully with the mainland.
The ground situation in Kashmir is tense after Kasmhmiri politicians threaten of massive rebellion in the State against the government’s decision. PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti had several times warned about scrapping the Article. She even went to the extent of saying that Kasmhmiris might no longer hold the tricolor flag if the Central government goes ahead with the plan to put an end to the special status of Kashmir.
