Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) was one of the parties that opposed the government’s plan to scrap Article 370 along with the Congress. TMC chief Mamata Banerjee’s irk against the government’s decision was on full display when BJP members were detained by the police for celebrating the historic decision of the Central ministry.

The high-handiness of the police against BJP workers occurred at Siliguri area after celebrations broke out after the government decision came out. In addition, BJP workers were also stopped from celebrating at the capital city’s Kakurganchi area.

The extreme action by the TMC led government of West Bengal comes after the party opposed by the decision. TMC had went along with JD(U), Samajwadi Party, PDP, and Congress in opposing the Bill.

Mamata Banerjee fears the rise of BJP in West Bengal and had resorted to all sorts of violence and intimidation against BJP activists to silence them. Many members of the saffron party have been killed by TMC goons and their bodies hanged from trees and poles.

She also took to task anyone who dared to chant Jai Sri Ram in her presence and was adamant in wiping out any resistance to her dictatorial rule in West Bengal. However, the RSS-BJP have been steadily growing and in the recent Lok Sabha election scored a impressive win.

The Chief Minister has of lately roped in Prashanth Kishore, the election maverick, to advice her on the upcoming Assembly elections. Her decision to bring Kishore in is to combat the phenomenal rise of BJP  in the state.
