New Delhi: Abhinandan Varthaman, who had brought pride into the hearts of every Indian following Balakot airstrikes, will be on active duty within a fortnight. He cleared his medical tests and is all set to resume his duties.
Abhinandan Varthman sustained injuries after he ejected from his MiG-21 Bison and was captured by Pakistani forces. Before ejecting he had expertly shot down a Pakistani F-16, which was a more advanced aircraft than the Mig-21. His fighter craft was hit by a missile while he engaged with the Pakistani F-16.
Unfortunately, he landed in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and was handed over the Pakistani security forces by the locals. In captivity he showed exemplary courage and poise which won him a place in every Indian’s heart.
Because of his injury he had to undergo medical tests and went through debriefings. His new posting has not been revealed at the moment
Reports say that Abhinandan Varthman is likely to win the Vir Chakra, India’s third highest wartime military Award. In addition, the fighter pilots who flew the Mirage-2000 fighter jets that bombed the terror camps at Balakot are likely to be awarded the Vayu Sena medals.
