New Delhi : Supreme Court has rejected the petition, submitted to implement ban on fire crackers and its makers country wide. The usage of the fire crackers has to be restricted, the court has authorized the respective state Government for the same. The Bench declared a complete ban on online trade of firecrackers.
The petition emphasized on a claim to save air from pollution with a ban in fire crackers and its making however, Supreme Court made it clear that its not possible to restrict fire crackers on the occasion of Diwali or other similar occasions in India. The court restricted the time to crack the fire crackers to 8.00pm-10.00pm on Diwali and 11.55pm-12.30am on Christmas. State Government will be instructed by the court in regard to this order.
Endorsement from the central pollution control board is required in Delhi for fire crackers. The crackers with a low rate of pollution will be the only permitted ones, orders the court. Marriage functions or any other occasion these norms will be applicable, the court added.
There is complete ban on online buying and selling of crackers. Instead of ban the court has landed upon restrictions as the result of the request by the firecracker makers.
