New Delhi: While the country continues to battle against the coronavirus, the announcement of the 67th national film awards has been delayed. Chairman of previous year’s national awards jury and filmmaker Rahul Rawail told media that taking the current situation into consideration it is impractical for the jury members to assemble for selecting the winners.
The announcement of the awardees was supposed to be declared on May 3. Howver, reports also claim that the announcement will be extended indefinitely.
It is also likely that the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa and International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in Thiruvananthapuram will not be held this year. Financial crisis is also another reason to cancel the film festivals.
