Kolkata: Cyclone Amphan which lashed for about 6 hours left Kolkata airport flooded and damaged many structures. According to reports, 12 people have at least died in Bengal.
An aircraft was seen in knee-deep water. Two hangars have been damaged beyond repair, but they were unused, according to officials.
“Sarbanash hoye galo (It is a catastrophe),” said Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who remained in her office during the storm.
However, only cargo and evacuation flights are only operating for now and passenger flights remain suspended.
