New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday condoled the demise of Rajya Sabha MP M.P. Veerendra Kumar.
Taking to Twitter, Vice President said, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Shri M.P. Veerendrakumar, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and former union minister.”
Naidu said that Kumar was a multifaceted personality and had made invaluable contribution to media and journalism.
“He was a multifaceted personality. The veteran leader was also an accomplished journalist and a prolific writer. As Chairman and Managing Director of the Mathrubhumi Priniting and Publishing limited, he made invaluable contribution to media and journalism,” VP Naidu tweeted.
In the next tweet he said, ” He authored several books and won many accolades, including the coveted Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award. Human rights and environmental conservation were recurring themes in his writings.”
VP Naidu expressed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
“He was always deeply committed to the cause of the deprived and marginalized. In his passing the nation has lost a great leader and a true patriot. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti!,” he added.

M.P. Veerendra Kumar passed away at 83. He breathed his last on Thursday night at a private hospital in Kozhikode suffering from a cardiac arrest.
