New Delhi: India on Thursday gave a befitting reply to Pakistan after the latter’s Foreign Office issued a statement condemning the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
In response to queries on the statement Pakistan made, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said, “We’ve seen an absurd statement by Pakistan on a matter on which it has no locus standing. Given its record, Pakistan should be embarrassed to even mention minorities.”
“India is a nation served by the rule of law and which guarantees equal rights to all faiths. Pakistan’s Foreign Office may take time out and read their own constitution to realise the difference,” added the spokesperson.
In the statement issued by the Pakistan spokesperson, the commencement of the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya was ‘condemned’, calling the Supreme Court verdict in the matter ‘controversial’.
It said, ” The RSS-BJP combine in India is busy unabashedly advancing the “Hindutva” agenda. The commencement of construction of a Mandir at the site of the historic Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on 26 May 2020 is another step in this direction and the Government and people of Pakistan condemn it in the strongest terms.”
